Spray Tan Removal Tips

While it’s absolute heaven to have a spray tan, there is sadly always a time where it needs to come off.  After about 8-10 days it’s likely that your tan will have faded in certain areas and will be ready to be removed. Some people worry that it will be difficult to remove a spray tan and therefore avoid trying sunless tanning methods. That’s why we’ve decided to share some tips to prove how easy spray tan removal can be! Following a few simple steps you’ll be able to remove a spray tan in no time at all.

  • Of course the first step for spray tan removal is to try using an exfoliating glove or a tan removal mitt. We sell a few different tan removal mitts at Adore Tanning and they are fantastic for erasing the last of a spray tan.  The Bronze Off Mitt by Minx is particularly effective, however there are plenty of other brands to choose from also.
  • If exfoliating hasn’t removed all your tan and you have the time then we highly recommend this method! Not only will it remove your tan but it will also leave your skin feeling silky smooth. Start by covering your body (or any areas that the tan needs to be removed from) with baby oil and leave it to settle in for at least an hour. Having given it as long as possible, grab a damp washcloth and rub it all over your body in firm, circular motions. Once you have massaged your entire body once or twice, jump in the shower and rinse off the oil using an exfoliating glove.
  • Another relaxing method to remove a spray tan for those who aren’t short for time is to soak in a nice warm bath. Add some moisturising lotion or body wash, and even a small amount of baking soda. The combination of an exfoliating mitt and these ingredients will aid in loosening the tanned skin cells leaving your skin clean and tan-free.
  • Model Co has a fantastic product called the Tan Remover which is a unique exfoliating body scrub used to instantly remove any unwanted fake tan. Not only is it highly effective at spray tan removal, but it will also leave you smelling like delicious pink grapefruit!
  • Use Witch hazel or Lemon juice to remove small and stubborn areas of fake tan. These products can be highly effective for areas such as your knees, hands or elbows which can be harder to remove a spray tan from.
  • For a natural exfoliating formula, try mixing ¼ of a cup of olive oil with ½ a cup of sugar. Use a damp face towel to massage this mixture into your body using circular motions. This is a fantastic method for anyone with sensitive skin!

Using one or a few of these simple and easy methods, you can remove a spray tan in no time at all!  As you can see, none of these methods are particularly difficult and generally use products that you already have lying around at home. So don’t avoid spray tanning because you fear the spray tan removal process, it’s really not that difficult and spray tanning is the only healthy way to get your summer glow!
